Riv[Claim] in Jakarta

Jakarta serves as the capital and most populated city of Indonesia. Within its South East region lies the Ciliwung River, one of the world’s most polluted rivers. This site is vulnerable to yearly flooding caused by heavy rains and rising sea levels. The poorest residents, some illegally, live along the river, resulting in poor quality of life and unhealthy conditions. The lack of proper waste management, accessibility and adequate housing structures add to Ciliwung’s issues. The challenge is to bring social justice and restore the natural ecology of the site through river reclamation.
